PTSO FUNDING GUIDELINES
The PTSO raises money to support projects for SAHS. We meet regularly with the principal, teacher, and student representatives who help set priorities for programs and funding. There are three avenues available to pursue funding for projects:
1) ADMINISTRATIVE GRANTS: The SAHS principal, or any assistant principal, can approach the board for requested funding which will be discussed as new business at the next board meeting, discussed and voted on without additional documentation requirements. The minutes of the meeting will serve as documentation.
2) MINI-GRANT REQUESTS are a vehicle for teachers, coaches and student organizations and clubs to get funding. This funding should have the knowledge and the support of SAHS administration before the PTSO can discuss and vote on the mini-grant. As such, the mini-grant request must be submitted, signed by the SAHS principal, and then be presented at the PTSO board meeting for discussion and a vote. Please complete the Mini-Request Form in it's entirety following the instructions in "How to Apply for Mini Grants".
3) PTSO BOARD MEMBERS AND CHAIRS can request funding through the budgeting process which is a “best estimate” at the beginning of the school year. The budget should document what items generally are being funded. Chairs update the board on major milestones and expenses at monthly board meetings. Please refer to SHPTSO by-laws under finances for specifics on the budget.
If more funding is needed than originally estimated, they should present the need (what for and approximate amount) at a board meeting where the request will be discussed, and voted on.
